I wrote this piece alongside members of my band RequiemÂ
The intro to this song sets the foundation for the piece, playing the chords of the verse but adding in tapped notes, allowing for colour and tension. The song begins in F Lydian which is emphasised by the #11 on the maj9. On the third bar we modulate to Bb Lydian, once again through emphasis of the #11, Finally I play an Asus7 arpeggio which resolves satisfyingly onto the A major triad, This sequence gets repeated.
After the intro the time signature changes and stays in 4/4 time playing the same chords but without the tapping. The progression is a I(maj9) - vi(m9) - IV(maj9) - III(sus4) - III(7). This sequence gets repeated.
The pre-chorus returns to Bb Lydian with the #11 once again present, Sus4 chords are also used to further add colour. These chords are also arpeggiated. This section was heavily inspired by "Shine on you Crazy Diamond" by Pink Floyd. The chord progression is a I(#11) - II(sus4) - VI(sus4) iii(minMaj7) - iii(maj7sus2)
The chorus modulates to the relative minor that being D and interchanges between natural Minor and Harmonic minor making use of the 9th and in one instance b9th. The progression for the chorus is a i - VII - VI - V.
