Church Organ is my favourite song I have written to date with its complex melodies, jazzy harmonies and time signature changes. The song is almost 12 minutes long with most of it being instrumental. I will not go over every single detail but will show some cool riffs, sequences and licks I composed for this piece.

The intro motif is used commonly throughout this piece being played on Piano, Guitar, Synth, Organ and a Harpsichord. I wrote this on guitar when I was improvising Diatonic arpeggios as such I then wrote the harmony by using my theory knowledge of leading tones, chromatic mediants etc to construct a tasteful progression.

I wrote this part while improvising in C# minor and decided to use it for this piece I then added a synth harmonising the guitar in perfect 4th's and 5th's to create something similar to dream theater.

This synth line gets repeated a few times just before the vocal a capella section I composed it by experimenting with arpeggios being played in Demi-Semi-Quavers to create a "sweeping" kind of sound

This part is also inspired by dream theater, specifically John Petrucci's guitar work as I have combined both the blues scale and dorian mode playing at a very fast rate as a transition to the organ solo.

This section is the organ section, The guitar plays power chords with an added 9th arpeggiated while organ plays arpeggios which all lead into each other. This solo is played in sequences which means that the same idea is played at a different pitch. Bar 1 plays the original melody, bar two plays the sequence up a third from the root, bar 3 plays the sequence a fifth from the root and bar 4 plays the sequence a seventh from the root.
